Often you can get a suitable transcript from your school. If this is not the case, you will need official translations along with verified copies of the original. Please provide the secondary school leaving certificate in the original language. Legalisation is a Certification of Document Authenticity: certification of document authenticity (legalisation) means verification of signature and seal of a document. Traditionally it is performed by a Consular Officer so that documents drawn up in one country would be legally valid in another one. If a document is issued in a foreign country which has concluded bilateral agreement with Latvia (Belarus, Kirghizstan, Russia, Moldova, Ukraine, Uzbekistan) – these countries don’t need legalisation of documents, it enough if they have Official State Seal. You must take the original entry qualification documents along with you when you finally go to the university. If a document is issued in a foreign country which has joined the Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Documents of 5 October 1961, its authenticity must be certified with an Apostille by the competent institution of the relevant country, and the document is valid for submission to Latvia’s institutions without any other certification. 3. If a document is issued in a foreign country which has not joined the Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Documents of 5 October 1961, it must be by diplomatic/consular mission of Latvia in the relevant country or by the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, after their authentications by the competent institutions of the relevant country (the foreign ministry or a diplomatic/consular mission of the relevant country). 4. If a document is issued in a foreign country which has concluded bilateral agreement with Latvia (Belarus, Kirghizstan, Russia, Moldova, Ukraine, Uzbekistan) – these countries don’t need legalisation of documents, it is enough if they have Official State Seal. Overview
THE AIM of the master’s study programme is to promote the improvement of students’ professional pedagogical, management and research competence for competitiveness in education, to motivate for further academic growth.
KNOWLEDGE
-understanding of educational sciences (integrating into them also other sciences related to
human life) and their sub-branches, theories and practices, education systems, history,
development trends, current research in Latvia, Europe and the world;
-understanding of the research process, which includes research logic, diverse research
methods, interpretation and dissemination of research data;
-critical understanding of the links between educational theories, research, pedagogical
regularities and practice;
-understanding of the pedagogical process and the optimum learning environment in diverse
educational contexts;
-integrated knowledge and understanding of education management, interaction of participants
in the educational process at different levels of education, research process, mentoring in
education, communication in team work in educational institutions at different levels.
SKILLS
-Systematically and critically analyse societal processes related to education, theories, research
data, educational policies and legal issues in Latvia, Europe and the world;
-critically analyse complex issues of educational sciences at different levels of education and
professional activity, substantiating and arguing orally and in writing, defending one’s opinion;
-plan, implement and assess pedagogical activities according to the needs of different
educational target groups in different contexts, creating a safe and supportive, optimum
learning environment;
-formulate, analytically describe and present information, problems and solutions in the
educational sciences, in the professional activities of teachers and education managers;
-explain and discuss complex or systemic aspects of professional activity of educational
sciences and educators, education managers, results of international and local research both
with specialists in the field, with non-specialists and the general public, present the results of
research to various audiences;
-independently use theories, methods and problem-solving skills to carry out research activities
in educational sciences.
COMPETENCE
-Independently formulate and critically analyse complex scientific and professional problems
in the field of education, substantiate decisions, if necessary, perform additional analysis of
problems, using the acquired knowledge and skills in new or unforeseen situations;
-to integrate knowledge and skills from different fields in the autonomous decision-making
process, contribute to the creation of new knowledge, development of research and
professional methods, taking into account the ethical responsibility for scientific results or the
potential impact of professional activities on society in the context of sustainable development;
-to encourage and introduce innovative, theoretical and research-based changes into the field of
education in the workplace and in the society, responsibly assessing the potential impact of an
activity on the relationship between education and society;
-to lead or coordinate interdisciplinary teams, implement mentoring in practice, perform
educational work in accordance with the needs of various educational target groups in an
inclusive educational environment, taking responsibility for their own initiative, for the results
of staff’s / team’s work;
-to reflect on their learning process and achieved results, promote further development of their
knowledge, skills and competences.
